What made you choose your profile picture?

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for October 25, 2007:
For a few reasons. I usually choose the pic depending on me mood, so it never stays the same for too long, so..
I love Darth Maul, he is the epitome of controlled rage, consummate skill, and discipline. Sux he died, and i know it was for the movie, but c'mon! We all know that Maul could've beaten B.Y.O.B Kenobi n Qui Blu Wind (who he did defeat) blindfolded. I'm a fan of SW to the utmost, as well as an connoisseur (i think) martial arts. Even in a fit of rage, Vader couldn't have taken him, but that's just me humble opinion..
Anyhow, i've also chosen this current pic b/c i've been going thru a bit of a rough time these past few months. I've kept myself active and managed to keep my light about me, but one can only be pushed so far. So, like Maul, i'm attempting to channel the 'dark side' in me towards beneficial pursuits to keep my head high. And like him, no one will stand in my way, unless that is, i get sliced in half and fall miles down an energy shaft (What's with jedi and pits, anyway?)
Peace..
(blogger's note: my mood has lifted a bit. Back to me light of grey)

Help

here’s to channeling the dark side…. (clang of glasses and cheers)
I can feel your anger… It gives you focus, makes you stronger…
My brother, be mindful of the Dark Side of the Force… At first, you will not even notice that you have crossed the line. In fact, you will exert your will and power towards something that feels righteous… This is the trap. Falling to the Dark Side is not a conscious decision; it is something that is set in motion the moment one decides to use their knowledge of the Force to seek the power to control their surroundings. Keep in mind that I am not making judgments; be true to who you are. However, if you wish to explore the Dark Side, then be mindful that a Sith must not reveal himself until the moment is ripe ; ) Here is an excerpt from “The 48 Laws of Power” by Robert Greene (a Sith Lord), a book that should really be titled “How to be a Sith Lord” :
Law 38: Think as you like but behave like others
If you make a show of going against the times, flaunting your unconventional ideas and unorthodox ways, people will think that you only want attention and that you look down upon them. They will find a way to punish you for making them feel inferior. It is far safer to blend in and nurture the common touch. Share your originality only with tolerant friends and those who are sure to appreciate your uniqueness.
Anyways… The Force is everything, and it does not make moral judgments, it simply is… It is us humans who make the distinction between the “Light Side” and the “Dark Side”. The Light Side of the Force is peace, love, creation, order, harmony, serenity, to let go and completely trust in the Universe. The Dark side of the force is conflict, hate, destruction, chaos, discord, passion, the desire to control the Universe. These seemingly opposite sides of the Force are in fact two poles of an integral and unified Force. They are absolutely inseparable; there cannot be one without the other. The Force has many names: God, the Universe, the Tao, the Luminous Darkness, etc… It is what it is… To truly be one with the Force, one must find the middle way and become a paradox, and by becoming a paradox the paradox will cease to exist as a concept, and then there will only be the Force.
May the Force be with you ; )
I bow to your wisdom, brother. (~_~) A jedi Consular in every sense of the word; keeper of the knowledge of the holocrons. On both sides, it seems.
I shall be mindful, and i thank you for the post of law 38, as that seems to be my struggle from day to day; going against the grain of the commonplace superficiality and drama the masses seem to feed off of. Sickening, really.. In the midst of it though, i tend to blend in well enough through silence, mostly. Merely just an observer. If you don't have anything good to say, no?
I suppose at this stage of my life, my anger and frustration has tipped to one side, thereby throwing off my balance overall. In a balanced state, i'm more of a Force adept who reconizes the light and dark, within and without, though have no alligiance to either. I have favorites on both sides: Qui Gon (notably for his unconventional ways of thought for a jedi), Kit Fisto (his unbreakable optimism), Shaak Ti (her tempered patience, martial skill), and the incomparable Yoda (i mean, who doesn't love old Yoder?). On the other side, Darth Bane (1st sith lord to introduce the '1 master, 1 apprentice' rule), Darth Tyrannus (consummate sith gentleman and fencer), yummy Asajj Ventress (unbridled rage, and damn sexy), Visas Marr (blind sith apprentice who can see through the Force), and Maul (nuff said). There are others on both sides, but that'd be a hell of a list.
Knowing myself as i do, i know that these shadow feelings and stages of my life don't last for too long. With proper action and meditation, i'll move back in to my light of grey. Leaving with a quote from Maul in SW: Visionaries:
“There is no Palpatine, no Empire, no Jedi…there is no light and no dark….”
Add to it my own:
“There is only the Force, and the skills in which to utilize it for creation, preservation, and destruction.”
Peace.
“There is only the Force, and the skills in which to utilize it for creation, preservation, and destruction.”
I bow to your wisdom as well, brother. (~_~) You are wise, indeed…
One cannot help being in awe of Darth Sidious for his unrivaled power and Machiavellian cunning. He is a void… The Dark Lord of the Sith in every way, total amorality and pure darkness. I'm re-reading “The 48 Laws of Power” this weekend, and the more I read it, the more I feel like Darth Sidious himself could have written this book. I can almost hear his voice now:
“If one is to understand the great mystery, one must study all its aspects, not just the dogmatic narrow view of the Jedi…”
I imagine that the advice he would give to us Cancerians would be something like:
Law 18: Do not build fortresses to protect yourself - Isolation is dangerous
The world is dangerous and enemies are everywhere - everyone has to protect themselves. A fortress seems the safest. But isolation exposes you to more dangers than it protects you from - it cuts you off from valuable information, it makes you conspicuous and an easy target. Better to circulate among people, find allies, mingle. You are shielded from your enemies by the crowd.
Peace
Ah, yes..for no man is an island. Something i must always keep close to mind, living in this world. I'm grateful for your insight, brother Lucid.
Peace, and may the Force be with us all..
Indeed…
